New beginnings

Hello all...
well I decided to get rid of the xanga for a number of reasons...I decided to start this one just for the heck of it...maybe someone will enjoy and appreciate my thoughts and views of the world.
I'm sitting at my wonderful apt. in New York City (actually not mine but my friend Colleen's who I'm cat sitting for). *sigh* I've been here since Tuesday and can't believe how fast the time has gone. My goals for this trip were to have a mini-vacation away from Ohio, spend time with my dear Roseanna, do lots of studying and practicing, and get a good feel for living here. I've definitely done all of the above...except maybe the lots of studying--I have practiced but not so much studied. OH well it's vacation, eh? haha I've come to the following conclusions while being here:
1) The subway is a friend, not an enemy and it's easier to figure out than I thought (whereas before when I was here I would pour out $$$ to cab it everywhere).
2) I found a great voice teacher here (Mr. O's teacher)
3) It's very important to catch the A EXPRESS train before 10:25 otherwise the subway ride from Downtown will be an hour rather than 25 minutes.
4) It's really not as lonely as one may think to have Thanksgiving with just a few good friends--it's actually quite fun especially when you all sit and bitch about how you're single. :)
5) Everything downtown is way more expensive than everything here uptown.
6) IN MY LIFE was actually not a bad show--I quite enjoyed it and I especially enjoyed the fact that there wasn't a celebrity put into the show for commercial purposes...and it wasn't bad getting to go backstage and meet people and also stand on a broadway stage--the music box (THANKS for that one RO).
7) TIMES SQUARE generally just drives me nuts
8) I could spend hours in the Barnes and Noble in Chelsea looking at books, cds, and getting hit on by yummy boys.
9) RAWHIDE was actually a funny little bar to go into and I've never been hit on more in my life...
10) It's not very fun when random men come up to you and ask if they can take you home and after blowing them off they procede to follow you insisting that they take you home and show you a good time. HA!
11) Drinks are generally way too expensive here...although not too much of a difference from some bars I go to in Ohio.
12) Even though there's a smoking ban in NYC I still think that EVERYONE here smokes!
13) Drunk Norwegian women are so fun to meet! haha
14) Seeing the Metropolitan opera literally took my breath away, no matter how many times I've seen it before.
15) The studio where they shoot the Today show is TINY.
16) I dislike NYC tourists
17) The Macy's day parade was great...I walked 20 friggin blocks just to get to the Central Park side where my friends were...after about an hour I get there and the parade ends just as I find them.
18) It's sad when YOU have to give the cab driver directions from the airport to your apartment--oh so sad.
19) Going grocery shopping is actually fun here
20) I've walked more than I think I have EVER walked in my life...it's great...you can walk places and not get weird looks.
21) Three opera singers live on the floor I'm staying on...it's nice to practice and not worry if you're bothering the neighbors.
22) Starbucks is literally on every street here! Sometimes two.
23) 184th st. area is still a great cheap shopping area.
24) When the heat turns on in the apt. it really isn't someone breaking in or knocking on the door.
25) Door men are really cool.
and FINALLY....
26) I can't wait to be here!!!!!!!!!
-Justin
